People

The staff of the JGCP fluctuates from 67 to 70 persons from several academic levels, including approximately 20 graduate students from the University of Kansas who serve as research assistants supported by grant funding (including tuition) and who complete their training and research under the direction of JGCP Faculty/Staff.  The staff is diverse in gender, race, nationality, language, and culture.  For example, we currently have permanent staff from Malaysia, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.  Graduate students hail from as far away as Korea and Australia as well as from across all parts of the United States.  Some of our staff are from Northeast KC and Wyandotte County and others live in the surrounding KC metropolitan area.  Many of the staff are at senior levels as employees of KU in that they have 10, 20, and 30 or more year’s seniority.  Juniper Gardens is an excellent example how diversity and a common mission and goal creates an effective partnership of focus driven research and collegiality.

Why you should take notes by hand — not on a laptop
It's not just because laptops are distracting — but because taking notes by hand forces you to actively listen.
